A software developed with respect to the specific customer requirement called as software application.

A software developed with respect to the overall requirement in market called as software product the interesting customers are purchasing license of that product.

An application is the software developed by considering the requirements of the customer.
For software apllication the proposed company owns the application.

A Software product is the software developed by taking overall requirements in a specific kind of market requirements.

The development company is the owner of software product.

For it best example is Miscrosoft word is software application(user requirement) and Oracle apps is software product(its a overall requirement in market).
