What's the different between Tester and a Test Analyst?

i guess they are the same , some companies prefer to address their testers as a test analysts.

That depends on the perception, complexity of the project and even the organization level. Few organizations gives the same responsibilities for the both these roles. In some MNCs, these two are differenet w.r.t the activities they carryout. I personally feel the below are the differentiation between those two.

Tester: As usual tester will write test cases as per the requirements and usecases and execute the same and enter the test logs (observations) and forward the same to the higher level either test lead or Test Analyst.

Test Analyst: Test analyst will analize those observations and led the team members (ie testers) to restructure/modify the test cases and reassign the same for testing. Also Test Analyst mainly concentrate on project related metrics (specific to thta particular organization) and ensures that all those are met.
