What is meaning of Eficiency?

If meaning is water evaporation per unit heat transfer area provided in Evaporator, Then the answer is

1. Single effect LMTD ( Log Mean Temperature Difference) is High

2. In mutiple effect evaporator Each Effect LMTD is lower.

Efficiency means how much water evaporated for unit steam consumption, Multiple effect evaporate is more efficent than single effect evaporator.

There is no term like efficiency. Two terms are used to define characteristic of Evaporator that are Economy & Capacity.

there is two term- evaporator capacity and economy?
capacity-no. of kg of water evaporated per hour.
economy-k.g. of water evaporated per k.g. of steam feed.
both of multiple evap.(if taken for all effect) is greater than single effect. i think question is ..

Efficiency = amount of water evaporated per unit heat supply ...when we use multiple h.e ,content of water in exchanger is continuously decrease so efficiency decrease :)

Efficiency of an evaporator is given as : mass rate of vapors formed / mass rate of feed. Since in single stage evaporator there is greater LMTD as compared to the a multiple effect evaporator (of all other stages except the first stage for forward feed evaporator since that will be same as single stage evaporator, hence overall decrease in LMTD), therefore, more LMTD will cause more mass flow rate of vapors for the same mass rate of feed, hence increasing the efficiency of single effect evaporator.
