cognos reportnet is only a web-based product but microstrategy is a web-based as well as desktop based.

1. Micro stratgy is ROLAP & Cognos is MOLAP . 
 
       2.      Micro stratgy retrives data directly from data source, whearas  in Cognos it is stored in form of cubes & does`nt require database connectivity

Microstrategy: It is web based as well as desktop
It has only one metadata repository which is centralaised repository.
It doesnt support any cube dataset so we can have only current data from datawarehouse. Dont refresh data
Cognos: It is web based only
It has two meta data repository.
We have to refresh the cube for getting current data.
Compared to microstrategy it will be slow performance.
