Active Directory is directory service which store information about All the objects , objects like user, group,folder, printer etc..

AD use LDAP protocol for Access all the information .

AD is a direct service which contains information of all user acounts and share resources on a network. It is a centralized hierachical database system(ntds.dit)
ntds.nit-new technology directory service and directory information tree.
