Hellow i dont know abt confuguration testing properly... but here i'm just try to tell something...Configurational management is for two activities .. one is Change Control and another one is Version Control.. Once if any change occured in stable application then it;s need to change in all realted documentaion also... and also need to change all the names of documents (Version control)..srinivasulu.B (srinivasulub1981@gmail.com)

Configurtion Testing is when you change the base version of the software and try to introduce any change in the existing configuration keeping major portion of the base code unchanged i.e one or two change in the existing version of the software.

Configuration Testing is also know as "Hardware Compatability Testing". CT Validates whether the build run with different technology hardware devices are not.Eg:- Different Technology Networks,Network Topologies and Different Technology Printers

The best example is a mobile and a sim card.

where a mobile manifacturer will see wether the mobile is compatible i with different sims like airtel/idea and also wether the sim works with diff technologies like blue tooth, wi-fi .
