1."no of cubes un painted is ONE"

Cube is sliced in 3 layers of 9 cubes each:a. No face painted: 1b. Only 1 face painted: as many faces as the original cube had, i.e. 6c. Only two facccce painted: as many edges as the original cube had, i.e. 12d. Three faces painted: as many sommit as the original cube had, i.e. 8=> consistency check: 1+6+12+8=27

The ans to any such cube related questions is the following formulae...let the cube be x by x by x i.e for eg. 4x4x4 cubeThen three faces painted = 8 (always 8 as they r the 8 corner cubes)only two faces painted= 6(x-2)no face painted = 12 multiplied by square of (x-2);only one face painted = cube of (x-2)

if there are 'n' cuts...(For eg:- A cube having a side of 5 cm and it is cut into 1 cm cube..then, n= 5/1=5.)

this is only for cubes..

no colour sided cubes = (n-2) power 3 (i.e. (n-2)^3)

one side coloured = (n-2)power2 multiplied by 6

two side colored = (n-2)*12

three side colored is always equal to no of corners i.e. = 8.
