RE: What is RAS Server?
Remote Access ServerRemote access is the ability to get access to a computer or a network from a remote distance. In corporations people at branch offices telecommuters and people who are traveling may need access to the corporation's network. Remote Access is also required to access central application services such as Microsoft s Terminal Server or Citrix Metaframe which provide access for multiple users to certain applications. The Diva Server products instantly make your server a Remote Access server allowing for remote dial-up connections through desktop notebook with GSM mobile phone or desktop with modem over regular telephone lines. The support of the Microsoft certified WAN Miniport driver enables the Diva Server adapters to support the full Remote Access functionality of Windows operating systems. Remote Access Service for Linux is supported as well. The Diva Server Remote Access solution supports digital connections analog connections with a speed up to 56 kbps (V.90) as well as mobile connections (V.110) with a speed up to 48.4 kbps all using the same dial-in number. Regardless of the type of call the Diva Server adapter automatically detects the protocol (call discrimination) and configures itself to establish the connection.
