What is the difference b/n Positive testing and negative testing?what is differ in testing?

positive testing is not showing error when not supposed to + showing error when supposed to

whereas -ve testing is showing error when not supposed to + not showing when supposed to

example using cut and paste

+ve testing  -    cut when items are selected

-ve -   cut when items are not selected

Positive testing is that testing which attempts to show that a given module of an application does not do what it is supposed to do.



Negative testing is that testing which attempts to show that the module does something that it is not supposed to do.

positive testing is to show the application do what it suppose to do, we give right values to show the application is correct.

negetive testing is to show the application does not do what it suppose to do, we give wrong values to prove application is wrong

positive testing conduct with the client specification.Negative test is perform with an intention of wen the app is going to fail.this is not under client consideration.
