What do you mean by .profile in Abinitio and what does it contains?

.profile is a file which gets executed automatically when that particular user logging in.

you can change your .profile file to include any commands that you want to execute whenever u logging in.you can even put commands in your .profile file that overrides settings made in /etc/profile(this file is set up by the system adminiastrator).

you can set the following in your .profile......

- Environment settings

- aliases

- path variables

- name and size of your history file

- primary and secondary command prompts..

................and many more.
