QTP uses VB script but Winrunner uses C concepts for writing scriptsQTP supports Siebel but Winrunner does not

The main diff between QTP and WR is wr is not suitable for .net applications where as QTP supports .net app2 ) WR does not support multimedia app where as QTP supports3)WR supports only 2 browsers IE/ netsscape navigator where as QTP SUPPORTS ALL

1)QTP has builtin integration with winrunner and TD and winrunner has builtin integration with only TD

2)QTP supports .net and XML application where as winrunner doesn't support.

3)QTP generates script which is based on VB script and winrunner generates Mercury interactive TSL script which is based on C language.

4)Data Driven test is more easier in QTP when compare to winrunner

- QTP has a Key Word Driven test for users to design their test without writting code.- QTP can take actions against objects on different web browsers - WinRunner has to close one, open the other one to take actions against the objects on the other browser.

The major difference between old version of Winrunner and new version of Winrunner are:

 

1)      Call_ex function we are using to call Astra quick test in winrunner but now Astra quick test is completely close the Mercury. Now we are using call_ex function to call QTP file in winrunner.

2)      Some changes in Menu section

3)      Some changes in Runtime Settings

4)      Extra Add-Inns are added in New version of Winrunner

5)      Now Mercury having only one tool called Functional Tool , in this tool they are added 14 Add-Inns , Depends on your Project , u can Install QTP as well as Winrunner , but u purchase only One tool I.e. called Functional Tool.

6)      New version of Winrunner is completely Web-Based .
