What is the difference between product and project?

Project is the term which is more specific to particular business.Product is the term which is more generic to every business.

Projet : 1. Specifications will be given by Client 2. Client views/ requirements will be considered 3. End user is one 4.Once developed it will be finished Product : 1. Company designs product 2. Company with own views (based on market) develops product 3.End users are more than one 4. Never ending process 5.Customization is possible .

hi, Project:- "Any Task."                 A S/W project is a development project in which a s/w process is used. The actual act of executing the activities for some specific user need is a s/w project.Product:- "End Result."                   S/w products are outcomes of a s/w project. All the outputs that are produced while the activities are being executed are the products(One of which is the final S/W)

Product development is done assuming a wide range of customers and their needs. This type of development involves customers from all domains and collecting requirements from many different environments.    Project Development is done by focusing a particular customer's need, gathering data from his environment and bringing out a valid set of information that will help as a pillar to development process.

It is a items produce by the organization or manufacture according  there own requirements such as look , feel and understandability.It is marketing directly by the organization.It is an application or sofware developed according to the client requirement.The person can directly connect and work under Networker in his organization. sudhakar kolla

hi Depends on requirements where they are coming from we can define the product and project.project:if the requirements are coming from outside the company i.e perticular one person or orgnaisation ,then the outcome of the task is project.product: if the requirements are coming from with in developement company , the out come of the task is product. thanku.......

Hi,A project is specifically designed to meet the requirements of a particular business or firm. Whereas a product is meant for the end users which can be used by all.

Product testing is nothing but...focus is on many users reuirements is based on User needs...for example :if we take one washing machine,fridgethat machine built based on many people needs ans expectationsproject testing is nothing but: focus is on only one user...we have to follow only one user needs and expectations..

Hi,In response to the Question posed with regard to the difference between Project and Product, please find my views typed below.For a Project, customer places order before manufacturing Process and for a Product, customer places order after manufacturing process.From the above view it is evident that Project has a specific customer where as Product has a general customer.Please do let me know your views on this...Thanks and RegardsRavi Prasad

Product:  * Requirements are gathered by company it self-based on end users needs.* It involves long term Testing.* Testing is conducted at customer site by end users.* Testing is conducted in real environment.Project: * The customers exclusively give requirements.* It involves limited testing.* Testing is conducted at developer’s site.* Testing is conducted in virtual environment.

Collection of project is product...eg pjt is an individual element of individual target but product is used for universal target its used for multiple usage

Product:1:Product is developing for segment of customer.2:There is no end of development and testing because product will be keep on releasing to market version by version.So version of product we require testing and development.3:Client like people will perform testing in product.Ex:HP,Microsoft,Yahoo,Google,Dell and Deloitte Project:1:Project is developing for specific client.2:There is end of development and testing in project because whenever we satisfied all client requirements we need to stop development and testing.3:Directly client will perform testing in project.Ex:Accenture,Infosys,Wipro and TCS
