Trojan horse is a program that claims to rid your Computer of viruses but instead introduces viruses onto your computer. Trojan horses do not replicate themselves but they can be just as destructive.

In order to save the system :

1)Turn off and remove unneeded services.

2)Always keep the patch levels update.

3)Enforce a password policy.

4)Configure your email server to block or remove email that contains file attachments that are commonly used to spread viruses, such as .vbs, .bat, .exe, .pif and .scr files.

5)Isolate infected computers quickly to prevent further compromising your organization. Perform a forensic analysis and restore the computers using trusted media.

6)Do not to open attachments unless you are expecting them. Also, do not execute software that is downloaded from the Internet unless it has been scanned for viruses.

Trojans are programs which are programmed to send private and confidential data to a remote server or to an IRC channel, sometimes these programs even send all the keystrokes from your computer to the server by integrating a keylogging service in an infected program.

The Best way to counter Trojans is to use a firewall which monitors all incoming and outgoing traffic, for corporate enviornment, its best to block all the ports which are not in use and custom ports should be blocked immedietly, the best practise is to only allow ports which are needed and the traffic should be monitored well, as prescribed by one more of us that its also good to stop the unnecassary services however its equally important to stop unknown services.

A Trojan Horse is simply a malicious computer program that damages your computer system upon installation. The program claims to do one thing, such as pretending to be a game, but instead do something else when you run them. Some nasty Trojans will actually attempt to erase your hard drive. They were originally named after the historic Trojan horse used by the Greeks to conquer Troy because the first Trojan horse programs pretended to be innocent games or applications. Trojan horses have no way to replicate themselves automatically.

trajon horse is one of the worst. You insatll a standard antivirus soft ware such as Norton, AVG , Avast ( free antivirus software and Ad-aware, Ewido ( free spyware removers). You can download free softwares at http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/us/frt/0

The Trojan is not actually a virus it is a powerful hacking tool used to get the full control of any system without any intimation.
