By default one class having one hierarchy ie called report hierarchy.Custom hierarchy we can create in designer according our req.

In custom hierarchies you can define your own way. Default hierarchies are based on class and objects defined at database pane.

A default hierarchy is created with a dimension in the order in which they are presented in the class. A custom hierarchy is created from default hierarchy.

Hi Guys,
I see all answers given were describing the difference between Custom and Default Hierarchy. But the question is Difference between Customer and Report based Hierarchy.
Even iam not aware of this. Could you please let all know about the differences between Default, Custom and Report based hierarchies if Report based hierarchy exists. (As of my knowledge there is no report based hierarchy).
Guys, Correct me if iam wrong.

Hierarchy nothing but level comparing or Level of Analysis reports e.g Suppose you can Analysis Product sales Top Level to Low level ( Year->Hal->Qtr-> Mon). Like this analysis we create own Hierarchy in report level.

Hierarchies defined in BO universe designer are used for RRI [Report to Report Interaction] to support drill-down an drill-up functionalities in reporting environment.
Default hierarchies contain classes and objects defined in class panel area. In custom hierarchies, we can create our own hierarchies. We can add the required objects (for reporting purpose) from default hierarchy area to custom hierarchy area.

Report Based Hierarchy is a by default Hierarchy which Designer created in Designer by making a Classes and Objects.
Custom Hierarchy is your choice just like you have Dimension year, Quarter, Month, week, Day and you dont want to use that Sequence so you create Custom Hierarchy where you choose like Year and Month and that will be your Custom Hierarchy for your report.

Custom hierarchy is used in Scope of Analysis, we can decide the hierarchy as per requirement. For e.g. if there is a hierarchy Year
Report hierarchy is created at Universe Level.
