after 2 1/2 hours the trains meets first train. then later in 21/2, for each 1/2 it meets another train.

so total trains it will meet is 1+5=6.

b'coz if we consider each train starting towards each other at1:00PM they will meet each other at 3:30PM

similarly the train that started at 1:00 pm from NEWYORK  meets the trains starting from WASHINGTON at 1:30,2:00,2:30..............

at 3:45,4:00,4:15,4:30,4:45,5:00,5:15,5:30,5:45,6:00PM

hi the correct ans is 19 trainsplz note that the trains we have to consider also include the ones which have already left washington in last 5 hrs.. hence ans is 19 trains

Hi all, Acc to me the answer is 21. assume that a train starts from NY to Washington at 12:00 in the noon. It will meet the train that started from Washington 5hrs earlier at the station itself i:e the train tat started from Washington at 7 in the morning. After 1/2 hr it will meet the train tat started at 7:30 from Washington this way it will meet trains that started from Washington between 7:00Am- 5:00Pm...and this way it will meet 21 trains.Regards,Sravya :)

hi amit,ur ans is wrong because when the train start 4m NY it will not meet the others trains that r coming 4m NY it will meet only with the train that cominng 4m WASHINGTON.so 1st time the two train meet at 3:30 & after that at the interval of 1/2 hr i.e.at 4,4:30,5,5:30,6.so ans is 6

please note that bold words. there is a train  from washin to new york leav

for every hour and half hour. so during one hour the number of train left washington is 2+1+2=5. so 5 trains will leave washington during every hour.
