Test Strategy is a general documenton the testing process which will be followed for the project. This document in general informs about the kind of testing that will be done the resource planning and the total cost of the project.

The test plan is much more detailed. Other then the the kind of testing process followed it also tells the exit criteria, the minimum criteria to start the testing, the exit criteria.

If automation is part of the project then how many test scripts can be automated. How long it is going to do the process of automation and the tools which would be used for the process.

Basically the test plan document informs about the testing process, the exit criteria, the acceptance criteria, mention of the automation tool if needed.

This document should be updated regularly and should reflect the present condition of the project.
