QA's role to be management's eyes and ears to understand how well the s/w is being build and to know when corrective actions are needed.By measuring and monitering the s/w development ,qa helps to determine if organisation's standard and procederes are being followed and is they are effective in helping the staff to do excellent work.If standards are being ignored ,qa identifies the reasons and help management to determine the steps that must be taken to bring the development activities in the line with the expectations.
By testing and auditing the prodect of s/w development, the qa stablish the quality lavel .When defects levels are higher than expected ,qa can help to identify the reason for this and action that'll correct the problem,

Hi,

QA plays an equal, infact a prominent role in S/w life cycle. QA has a test plan and all the QA team is termed to follow. Dev team develops the product/project. It's QAs responsibility to check the quality of the same following the processes and policies. QA is to ensure that we are giving the client a good quality product with minimum of issues (bugs). Product/Project failure is equally measurable and responsible to the QA Team.
