Diff b/w Rational Robot and WinRunner is

WinRunner Supports GUI(Graphical User Interface)

Whereas Rational Robot Supports Both GUI and CUI(Character User Interface)

WinRunner & QTP both are mercury interactive tool. Its a functionality testing tool can be used for smoke & regression testing but both use different scripting language ( TSL & Vb scripting ). In case of Rational robot its SQL basic language.Functionality of the tool is almost same but handling the tool is different compared to mercury interactive tool.

this is a functional as well as regression tool

The difference between Rational robot & winrunner is that rational robot is useful both performance as well as Functional where as u can do only the functional testing with winrunner or qtp. The scripting language differences will b there.

with the package pf Rational Robot u will b getting Test Manager as a Test management tool where as it is quality centre or test director in other cases like this so many differences r there.

The scripting Languages that are used are different. WinRunner use TSL QTP use VB Script and Rational Robot uses Basic SQL Script. And also Winrunner is used for GUI whereas Rational Robot can be used for both GUI and CUI.

Winrunner and QTP are used for functional testing where as Rational Robot is used for functional and performance testing.
