Diff b/w Rational Robot and WinRunner is

WinRunner Supports GUI(Graphical User Interface)

Whereas, Rational Robot Supports Both GUI and CUI(Character User Interface)

win runner and qtp are mainly used for regression testing.

 WinRunner & QTP both are mercury interactive tool. Its a functionality testing tool,can be used for smoke & regression testing but both use different scripting language ( TSL & Vb scripting ). In case of Rational robot its SQL basic language.Functionality of the tool is almost same but handling the tool is different compared to mercury interactive tool.

Winrunner and  Qtp r tools by mercury for functional

whereas rational robot tool i a IBM tool

The difference between Rational robot & winrunner is that rational robot is useful both performance as well as Functional where as u can do only the functional testing with winrunner or qtp. The scripting language differences will b there.

with the package pf Rational Robot u will b getting Test Manager as a Test management tool where as it is quality centre or test director in other cases like this so many differences r there.

The scripting Languages that are used are different. WinRunner use TSL, QTP use VB Script and Rational Robot uses Basic SQL Script. And also Winrunner is used for GUI whereas Rational Robot  can be used for both GUI and CUI.

rational robot is both performance and functionality tool. but winrunner and qtp is the functionality tool. use different script languages. winrunner not test .asp net applications,only java functions.but qtp test any kind of applications. advanced keyword driven testing solution tool in qtp. qtp and winrunner both are functionality regression tool.qtp is user friendly than anyother automation tool by keyword option.tester who doesn't know high level of coding also do testing in qtp by keyword option.rational robot and winrunner is platform dependent. but qtp is platform independent.

Winrunner and QTP are used for functional testing where as Rational Robot is used for functional and performance testing.

Rational robot is the product of IBM whereas Winrunner is the product of Mercury Interactive, Rational Robot used for Both GUI and Whereas Winrunner used for Only GUI script, the execution time of R.R is 6 msec whereas for Winrunner 10 ms
