Thegeneral ledger is a list of accounts maintanedby company which includes all accounts openedfor transactions.

General ledger contains all the ledger accounts including vendors,customers, revenue, asset & liability account type which are ultiamtely part of Chart of Accounts applicable for a particular company code.

I am handling general ledger of my company for last five years, it consist of ledgers other than debtors and creditors ledger which are taken care by debtors and creditors ledger, you will find their control ledger in general ledger.

I have 3 years strong General Ledger experience. Major tasks include processing monthly accruals and adjustments, preparing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations (review involves analysing and researching reconciling items, and reversing or charging them out to P&L wherever required.

General Ledger is the final repository of all the journals from the various sub-ledgers. I have 3 yrs in GL including 3 end to end implemetation.
The implementation of GL can be divided into 3 broad categories
1. Setup --> oviously the 3C of 11i or 4C of R12. the multi-org structure the SOB/Ledger structure, consolidation method, CVR, Data access sets, defination access sets etc
2. Journals related--> source , category, document sequence, batch control, budget control, journal approval, journal reversal, allocation, recurring journal,etc
3. Reporting --> FSG, reconciliation, legal reports, taxes, period closure activities like reconciliation/translation for period closure reports
