RE: Detail object

Defined role that object takes when used in the Query panel. You can qualify an object as being one of three types:
Dimension
Detail
Measurel

detail objects holds more information about you measure and dimension, but you can't drill that based on your detail objects

RE: Detail object

A Detail object provides additional information about a particular dimension. A Customer dimension, age, fax, phone number, street address and direct mail are typical details. Details and attributes may supply users with additional ways to analyse the measures, or they may be purely informational. For example users may want to analyse sales by customer age group but rarely by customers individual street addresses. In this respect the street address is purely informational. If you are using OLAT Database, Microsoft Analysis Services refers to details as member properties; Hyperion Essbase referes to them as attributes.

The main limitation with detail objects is that in BOXI, they are not hierarchical.
