suppose Cost Price is RS. 100

then 20% discount means Selling Price is RS.80

but again on this price there's a dicount of 15%

therefore the final selling price is 80-(80*15)/100=RS.68

therefore total dicount = ((CP-SP)*100)/CP=32%

let cp=100
20/100*100=20......... 100-20=80
2nd disc-80-(15/100*80)=68.... ie sp=68
for single disc= cp=100,sp=68,single disc=?%
ie. 100-(100*?%)=68
?=32%

2598*20/100=520
2598-520=2078
2078*15/100=311
311+521/2598*100=31.98~32%

Formula d1+d2+ (d1xd2)/100
whereas there has been talking about discount therefore both 20% and 15% will be negative
so ,
-15-20+(-15x-20/100)
or, -35+(300/100)
or, -35+3
or,-32
so 32%
=-32
i.e., 32% discount

Suppose Cost Price is Rs. 100 then 20%
Discount means Selling Price is Rs. 80 but
Again on this price there is a discount of 15%
Therefore the final selling price is 80-(80*15)/100=Rs.68
Therefore total discount = ((CP-SP)*100)/CP =32%

Suppose CP=100
so that 100-20=80
again on 15% discount= 80*85/100=68
total discount is = 100-68=32%

Soln. let X = 20% discount, Y = 15% discount,
we have, (X+Y - XY/100)%
= (20 + 15 - 20*15/100)%
= (35 - 300/100)%
={(3500 - 300)/100}%
=(3200/100)100
=32%

formula:A+B+AB/100
here discount so
(-20)+(-15)+(-20)(-15)/100
= -35+3
= -32(32% discount)

As we know that
X+Y - XY/100 = Total Discount
so
20 + 15 - 20×15/100
35-3=32%
32% = Total Discount
