let the fathers age be f and son's age be s
s=.5f => f=2s..................1
(f-10)/3=(s-10) => f-10=3s-30
3s-f=20.............................2
solving 1 and 2
we get son's age as 20 and fathers age as 40

Consider x is Son & y is Father.

   ie, x=y/2 and x=1/3(y-10)

So, Father's age  is 20.

let father's age is:- y
and son's age is :-x

  present age son =>x=y/2
   before 10 year the age of son is=>x=y/3

        so now y/2=y/3+10

   by solving this we get y=60

     so presently the age of the father is  60 and age of the son is 30
      where the age of the son was before 10 year is 1/3rd of the age of his father that is 20 year.

I accept the answer of Puspanjali

let father's age is:- F
and son's age is :- S

  present age son =>S=F/2
   before 10 year the age of son is=>S-10=F/3

        Substituing S=F/2 in S-10=F/3

F/2-10=F/3
cross multiplying this we get,
(F-20)=2F/3
3F-60=2F
Now
3F-2F=60
Therefore F=60

     so presently the age of the father is  60 and age of the son is 30
      where the age of the son was before 10 year is 1/3rd of the age of his father that is 20 year.

let Fathers Present age is = X;
Son's Present age is = X/2;

10 years back......

Son's age= (X/2)-10-----------1

According to Given Statement:

Son's age=(1/3)(X-10)-------------2

on Equating 1 and 2 we get

(1/3)(X-10) = (X/2)-10

which gives X=40..... (Which is Father's Present Age...)

lets sons age be S and fathers age be F

TODAY SONS AGE IS HALF OF FATHERS AGE

  WE HAVE  S= 1/2 F

10 YEARS AGO IT WAS 1/3RD OF FATHERS AGE

S-10 =1/3(F-10)

SUBSTITUTING ,F =2S IN THE ABOVE EQN WE GET

S AS 20

THATS IS THE SONS PRESENT AGE AND THEREFORE FATHERS PRESENT AGE WILL BE 2S  I.E  2*20 = 40 YR

FATHERS PRESENT AGE IS 40

suppose, x is son, so that father is 2x
       10 years back son is x-10 and father is 2x-10

       which is 1/3 of the father sons that's wy

            x-10=(2x-10)*(1/3)
           x=20 , so father is 2x=40

let son's age b'x' n father's age b'y'.
given s "x= y/2"

but 10 yrs back ,
                          (x-10)=(1/3)*(y-10)
                          so,,,y=40
                           now that s after 10 yrs father's age ll b "+10"
                         therefore, y+10 = 50

let the age of father is x;
the age of the sone=x/2;
ten yrs back, the age of father is x-10;
                      the age of son is    x/2-10;
              at the same time son=1/3(x-10)
         so x/2-10=1/3(x-10)
       solving we get x=40 and x/2=20
       hence the age of father is 40 and the age of the son is 20;

Let the father's present age be    'x'
so that son's age is                      'x/2'
and ten years back  father's age  'x-10'
ten years back sons age               '(x/2)-10'
so that according to the given condition  1/3(x-10)=(x/2)-10.............(1)
solving equation we get x=40 that is father's present age is 40
and sons age is 'x/2' that is 20

Yes sure it is 40 ie., The age of the father
Consider if 40 is the fathers age sure 20 is the age of the son if it is half so 1st condition is satisfied and go ten years back so dads age is 30 and sons age is 10, it is satisfying the 2nd condition i.e, 1/3rd of the fathers age so fathers age is 40 and sons age is 20.

Suppose father's age is x yrs.
Then son's age is x/2 yrs.
After 10 yrs.
Back son's age is x/2-10 that is equal to 1/3rd age of father (x/3).
x/2-10 = x/3
We solve it and get value of x as 60. which was father's age 60yrs.
His present age is 60yrs.

Let son's age be x years

and father's age be y years

x=1/2y .................(1)

10 years back

son age=x-10 years
father age=y-10 years

x-10=1/3(y-10) ......(2)

Solving (1) and (2)  we get
x=20 i.e, son's age
y=40 i.e, father's age

Let present age of father be x yrs
Hence present age of son is x/2
10 yrs back fathers age is (x-10)yrs
and sons age was 1/3(x-10)
Hence 1/3(x-10)+10=x/2
x=40
Present age of father is 40 yrs
