A Boy has taken a short cut on which there is a railway track that goes through a narrow bridge. When the boy covered 7/16th of the track in the bridge, he heard the whistle of the train. Then he ran out of that bridge, when the train came to that bridge. If he were taken actual root, he would have reached the destination on time, rather taking the shortcut and running out of that bridge. If the boy covers 4km/hr, what was the speed of the train?

lemme have a go at it..

from wat i can understand from the question..lets assume the length of the track be 16kms(for convenience)..so the boy is at 7kms from one end of the bridge..now wen the train arrives at this end,and the boy starts running at 4km/hr,its given that he can cover the remaining distance(16-7=9kms) on time..so he takes 9 kms at 4km/hr in the time interval of 9/4=2.25hrs.

this also means that the train covers the entire bridge of kength 16kms in 2.25 hrs.thus the speed of train is 16/2.25=7.1km/hr(approx)
