A person walking takes 26 steps to come down on a escalator and it takes 30 seconds for him for walking. The same person while running takes 18 second and 34 steps. How many steps are there in the escalator?

 ((34*30)-(26*8))/(30-18)=46

Difference between steps travelled by person in 1st and 2nd case=34-26=8.
time difference for those steps=30-18=12.
hence it is clear that each step takes 1.5 sec to travell.
so total no of steps is----
   a/c to first condition, 26+(30/1.5)=46
   a/c to second condition, 34+(18/1.5)=46.

Therefore the desired ans is 46.
