Priority determines how quickly the defect has to be resolved. If the defect is set to High priority the developer will attend it first.

Priority determines how quickly the defect has to be resolved. Priority plays a major when the defect is being attended by the developer, especially when there is a time constraint for the developer, where he might not be able to correct all the defects.

Based on the severity of the defect and the scenario of the functionality, which is being tested the priority of the defect is set by the test engineer.

Priority of the bug : tells the severity of the bug how much impact it has on the build or s/w application.

Depending on Critical, major, and minor severity of bug ... with how much priority the bug has to be fixed gets decided.

For this Developer/programmer and test engineers communication is must.
