Counter Flow H.E. are mostly used. Because:
1. More heat exchange, with minimum medium of exchanger.
2. Less material requirement for production.
3. Can be utilized for small exchange purpose to High as required.

Counter current is mainly used in refineries to increase heat exchange but if we will talk about industrial scale like cooling towers then cross flow has the major importance.
