Setting down Operation is One of The Forging Operations, Others Being Drawing, upsetting, Fullering,bending punching,etc.
when We Hammer down To Get Desired Shape,we can see the Hammer Spots which are uneven in shape, to smoothen it and flatten the surface we use setting down operation in which a flat hammer or say set hammer is used to make the surface flatten and corners at 90 degrees.
