What is the difference between INVERTER and UPS?

Inverter used for converts DC source in to AC source. It is manually operated.
But UPS we can use the inverted AC power output even if the Mains power cuts. So Only difference is switching and we can get uninterrupted power supply.

From UPS we can get regulated power supply (Sine wave). But in Inverter we get filtered square wave that means we can't get sin wave from inverter.

The main difference between Inverter and UPS is switching time.

Inverter switching time is inverter switching time is more than UPS , inverter Takes approx 500 millisecond to switch , that’s why you can feel a flicker when power cuts off , and UPS switching time is 3 to 8  millisecond so you don’t feel and flicker while UPS incoming power fails of offline UPS.

UPS has Voltage regulation which gives desired voltage as adjusted and in on line UPS no question of switching time as its inverter circuit is always ON
