To find the no. of stations and tickets

There N stations on a railroad. After adding X stations on the rail route 46 additional tickets have to be printed. Find N and X.

If there are n stations, n(n-1) tickets should be printed,
x stations cmes additional..
from n stations tickets to x stations n*x   eq--(1)
from x stations x(x-1) tickets,,
therfor x(x-1)+n*x=46;
x^2+x(n-1)-46=0;
if this equatio has to be satisfied...
(n-1)=21..
23-2=21;(23*2=46);
n-1=21;
n=22;
solving the equation will give you x=2;
n=22 and x=2;  check with the question also. with 22 stations. 2 new stations added. 22*2=44 new tickets +2 new tickets for each of the new stations..
