HI

Test bed is nothing but the test environment which contains the software and hard ware.

Always it's better to do the testing in Testing Environment because that is the real time environment which was used by client. So there is a chance to find out many issues and will give a quality manager.

In software testing, a test bed refers to a test environment.  Software test environments strive to replicate the production environment as closely as possible.
If there is no test bed, then only environment left is production; and that's where the customers live!  It is not a good idea to add even the slightest unknown to your production environment unless you know for sure how it will impact your customers.  Of course, software builds delivered to a test team is not a small unknown and care must be taken to ensure defects are discovered and fixed without any impact on customers.  And that's why we go for test beds.
