Rohit can catch either the harbour line train or main line train from his nearest railway station kandala to reach his office. Both the trains have a frequency of 10 min in the morning office hours. The harbour line trains arrive every ten min starting from 5a.m and the main trains arrive every 10 min starting from 5.02a.m. If rohit reaches the railway station random time in the morning to catch the first available train. What is the probability that he will catch the harbour line train.

in terms of probability the probability of Rohit catching the harbour line train in 0.8. reason being he will be catching the main trains only if he arrives within the first 2 mins in the 10 min slab. As if he arrives after 2 mins, the next train will be the harbour line train.

0.8 is the right answer.

Because there is only "2" minutes difference between "harbor line trains and main trains"
But there is 8 "minutes" difference between "main trains and harbor line trains"
So probability of coming between these 8 minutes is more than coming in those two minutes...
