A diagnostic procedure in which a signal is transmitted and returned to the sending device after passing through all or a portion of a network or circuit.

Maily used for testing the Network card/cable. A computer needs a loopback plug(Network Card) that is inserted into a port in order to perform a loopback test.

Testing in which signals or data from a test device are output to a system or component, and results are returned to the test device unaltered for measurement or comparison.
