night temp=n,day temp=d
n=1/3*d/2+d/2==4d/6
n+d=100(given)
hence, 4d/6+d=100
d==60
n==40 deg

let say High = 12 ( which can be divisible easily by 3 and 2 )

so Low = 1/2 HIGH is 6 and 1/3 more than 6 is  = 6+1/3 (6) = 8

so total is 20.

now use 20 total low is 8 then 100 total low is ?

will get 40.

Let highest temp be x

so low temp=1/3 of x of 1/2 of x plus x/2 i.e. x/6+x/2

total temp=x+x/6+x/2=100

therefore, x=60

Lowest temp is 40

Why did you take 1/3(6)+6?

low temp=X
high temp=Y

than X=1/2(Y) + 1/3[1/2(y)]
X=2/3(Y)

We have X+Y=100
Two equatios
3X-2Y=0
X+Y=100

So...

X=40....
