Boiler feed pump is a multi-stage centrifugal pump where no of impellers more than one usually >3 . Depending upon the boiler working pressure pump will select. The pump should have high positive suction to avoid cavitation, usually take more than 10m. feed water temperature will be more than>65'C.

Differential is used because while turning the velocity of inner and outer wheel are differnt so if we do not use differntial skidding can take place, alternative for differntial is to power just one of the wheel in the axle.
