As a project manager, what are the steps you carry once a project comes to you?

Please let me know the steps a project manager should carry on once its aawarded to him?

Getting down to the details of project such as has the objective of the project been clearly defined, charter approved, got the stakeholders buy in, have they been identified and resources who will be working on the project been identified etc. would be the first thing to do / get organized

2. Check for feasibility
3. Highlight Issues , Risk , Assumptions to the project

2. Understand the current stakeholders
3. Go through the schedule and check whether we are on track or not
4. Go through the Charter/SOW/Plan
5. Check whether we are on budget
6. Understand the current issues & risks
7. Understand the process flow and other details

We are still in project initiation phase.
So, we dont have the schedule, charter and budget.
We will be first understanding the customer business case & business value, the risks, issues & dependencies in taking this project and then create the project charter
