If there is duplicate defects like two defects created for same problem then this defects will be linked to get a better attention to the problem

Linking of defect also means - If a user story / task has multiple defects, so all these bugs should be linked to the user story / task for tracking purposes.

Why linking ? - To track, If the bug is relates to user story, its better to link with the user story so that when user story is closed it will make sure that all linked bugs are fixed.
