The dictionary meaning of Homogeneous is Uniform and Heterogeneous is Mixed. For example if a mapping is using only Oracle sources or Flat files or DB2 or XML or any other then they are called Homogeneous sources.

Example of Heterogeneous is if a mapping is using Oracle source table, Flat file, DB2 source and XML Source then they are called as Heterogeneous sources.

We simple cannot say that a flat file is different from those two.
