Back end testing means testing database. testing the inputs properly saved at back end or not.make sure whatever we input data at front end it properly saved at backend. Where as regression testing means repeatedly testing the application to make sure application should reach as per the requirement specification.

Backward testing means testing the application backward means if you find any defect while testing the application find out the route cause of that defect by checking the testcases properly written or not execution status of that perticular test case and which module the defect was raised. ... all this should considered.
Where as Regression testing means testing application repeatedly, to make sure the existing functionality does not change because of changed requirements or new requirements.

Please let me know if I am wrong.

I'm guessing you mean backward compatibility testing?? Given multiple version releases, an application created on a new version should still work with the older versions making it backwards compatible.

Regression testing is to make sure any added new features/enhancements have not "broken" the application...verify the application it still works as expected/designed.
