OAT addresses the non-functional attributes of a system. With the specific exclusions of performance and security, which we consider to be areas of specialty in their own right, OAT concentrates on such areas as maintainability, reliability, recoverability, installability, compatibility and conformance, to name a few.

The purpose of Operational Acceptance Testing is to ensure that solution / services are can be implemented and are operationally fit for purpose, do not adversely impact existing services and operates within the wider IT infrastructure and is likely to be fit for service in production

scope of OAT some are: Alert and monitoring, Implementation, Backup and restore etc

Operational Acceptance Testing (OAT) tests all the non-functional characteristics of an application. Load testing and performance testing are done for OAT. Other parameters like reliability, robustness, data integrity are also checked.

Operational Acceptance testing is also called Production acceptance testing. Here we test that the application(or system) fulfill all the requirements so that it is fit for further operation. In other words it validates that the system meets the requirements for operation. It includes testing for disaster recovery, maintenance, data backup/restore, periodic check for security vulnerability etc...

Operation Acceptance Testing is a type of testing that is conducted by infrastructure resources like your web sphere resources along with IIS resources and DBA support. OAT ensures that the system will perform once its deployed in Production. OAT is validation of the application on parameters like Stability, Scalability, Disaster Recovery, Fail-over Testing and Resilience Testing. OAT testing is performed in a like-live (non-functional Testing) environment, which ensures validity of testing. This in fact assists in the protection of the production environment.

OAT, Operational acceptance test is something that is carried out before release are deployed into the production from the pre-production environment. Its necessary that the min risk of the system is ensured. OAT is usually performed after UAT.
The type of testing here involves the typical testing of System Shut down and start up procedure, the housekeeping situation and the Batch processing related testing.
