If your PowerCenter repository is version-enabled, then you need to check-out /check-in in order to modify any objects (incl.. mappings). This is how you do the version control and locking on objects...!

In Informatica locks are automatically created. to manually lock or unlock. Go to the admin
console, select a repository and click the lock tab. using that you can create lock and release lock if already existing.


To unlock the Informatica mapping, consider the case if two user uses the same mapping, then for second user write lock will be created and the second user cannot edit or change anything in that mapping. only he can read or release the lock, only when the first user disconnect the mapping or particular folder, the second user can get access to that.
