The tree in requirements and test plan should b almost the same as depending on the requirements we will design all of our test cases and each requirement will b related to its related test set. Test plan has to be developed keeping all the requirements in mind and thus the tree is almost similar.Test director is called a defect tracking tool as in test director v can analyze the test results in form of reports, graphs and keep a track of all the defects. Whether a defect is open or fixed or still need further attention everything can b tracked.

Actually testdirector is called testmanagement tool not defect tracking tool as we are managing all testing process in Testdirector.

u r correct K , albeit we track defects with TD it does not mean that it's  only a defect tracking tool. it's a test management tool.if TD is considered as an universal set than defect tracking facility is it's subset.
