        Reason for, why we are not considering  Get Text as Check point in Winrunner is ?

       Get Text is not a check point, it is a method in wr

       The use of this is to get the text of an edit box.

       Here it is not checking any thing,it simply getting the text of an edit box.

Hi, The Get Text in wr is not considered as Check Poin... Why in the sense, Its only extract text from our screen. In this get text we can't check properties of objects or windows. But rest of 3 check points (Guimap, bitmap and database) we can check the property values of each and every object or windows. Thats why we didn't consider the get text as a Check Point. If any feed back pl. let back to me.

To my knowledge there are 4 check points in winrunner and text check point is inclueded .Here the thing is we are comparing the text data with our data (actual data ) by using "compare_text" function .

According to User Guide for Winrunner 7.01 , there areGUI checkpointBitmap checkpointDatabase Checkpointand Text CheckpointBut there is one more checkpoint mentioned , which is Date checkpoint, but this comes under GUI checkpoint.Get Text is only a function, it does not compair, actual and expected results. So it is not a checkpoint

get_text  is procedure  (method) in WinRunner ----reads text from the area of the screen indicated by location.  it is not a check point.

GET TEXT AND CHECK POINTS ARE TOTALLY DIFFERENT THINGS.CHECKPOINT IS USED TO CHECK THE PROPERTIES OF GUI OBJECT AND GET TEXT IS USED TO TAKE TEXT VALUE FROM NON GUI OBJECT OR BITMAP IMAGE
