let x=100, y=10% and z=10%

discounting at y% means discounting at 10% which comes to 100-10% of 100

let this be n. so n=100-10=90

now successive discounting at z% ie 10% 90-10% of 90

=90-9=81

so to mention in terms of alphabets let n=x-x*.y, final solution = n-n*.z

Should we always solve such problems by taking examples (values)?
