I have a seq file with 1000 records and I need to skip alternate records and write into a output file using cobol How can I do it

Use Counter

Code
Read input file
 If not End-of-file
  Add 1 to ws-counter
  If ws-counter = 2
     write record to output file
     move 0 to ws-counter
  end-if
 end-if
end-read
