Landline Telephone Voltage
At what voltage does landline telephone operate?

I tried to measure ring voltage, and showed inside the house 34V A/C, but measuring at the NID seems to show 10V? and change. Maybe caller-ID messes up the signal? Line is -51V DC. DSL is on the same line and is perfect 6016/768 and call quality is clean.

The normal telephone system works on -48vDC on hook when the phone goes off hook, the voltage drops to about 10v but reverses polarity.
