What is the practical use of a union transformation?

That was the description....practical use would be like : if you have 3 different sources which returns different number of records but with the same ports and datatypes, union transformation can be used to sum up these records and proceed to the next transformation as the same pipeline.

why do we need lookup sql override? Do we write sql override in lookup with special aim?

For some special cases like for example, You need to select the max salary
from emp table for a particular dept. then use
"select max(salary) from emp where deptno=in_dept_no
group by deptno".
Kindly let me know if this is possible without using SQL override in lookup.

Lookup override can be used to get some specific records(using filters in where clause) from the lookup table. Adavantages are that the whole table need not be looked up..

In your mapping using sequence generator transformation, the limitation of the transformation is it generates key values only around 2 million. If it is more than 3 million records are there in your source, how will you generate key values and load into target.

Now we dont have that problem, now sequence generator trans is have some around 18 digit number, so the problem is solved.if it extends more than that, go for stored procedure.RegardsRavi

use a Stored Procedure transformation where the stored procedure generates keys after checking the max in the target.
