NIM Server stands for Network Installation Management server. It is used for maintenance as well as management of AIX images on LPARs and also on individual stand alone servers.
NIM can group instances and install multiple instances simultaneously across the network. Using NIM Server, One can quickly implement on-demand capabilities for installation and backup procedures.
