Load Runner supports all network protocols.

Com/Dcom, Corb-Java, Rmi-Java Protocols, EJB Testing and Rmi-Javaprotocols, Web (HTTP /HTML), Web/Winsocket Java Protocols, Voice XML and WAP Protocols, Terminal Emulation and so on.

Normally we go with the HTTP Protocol.
