 TAR stands for Technical Assistance Request from Oracle. This is wbbased support from to their Oracle Apps/E-business suit customers.This done thru their site metalink.oracle.com.

Metalink is the Oracle Corporation Website, Where any one can get all the Information about A-Z of Oracle , Oracle Products, User Guides, Technical Reference Manuals etc...

To access metalink one need to have Oracle Account ( username / password).

TAR stands for Technical Assistance Request.

If any one have issue / Error / performance / Questions about the Oracle/ Oracle Products they can interact directly with Oracle Corporation by logging on TAR @ www.metalink.oracle.com and able to get solution/ clarification/ Help from the Oracle Experts.

In simple terms, Metalink is a website which Oracle has developed and maintains.

All the customers (companies) of Oracle products would be giving access to its employees in this website and what ever issue the customers faces (Business or IT) they would raise a ticket (technically called as SR - Service Request) to get the solution.

The Oracle support team which operates out of different countries would clasify the tickets based on the priority and severity and provide suggestion to solve the issue. Using the suggestions is completely upon the person who raise the ticket.

Once the issues is resolved then the ticket would be closed by the user.
