Hash file stage is a Passive stage.

The stage which do some process into it is called active stages . Ex: Transformer,  Sort, Aggrigate.

Has files is a passive stage. In DS Server edition hash files are used in jobs where lookups are required. Hash files are generally used in intermediate jobs in DS, where there is a need tostore data in anintermediate table format
